It’s hard to believe how our kitchen was transformed in one week by Grande Finale Designs. From the color recommendations by Lisa through to the work performed by John, Devon, Ethan, Allison and Lisa; everything went smoothly and we are more than pleased with the look and durability of the final outcome.
We last updated our kitchen 25 years ago. We were looking for an update and not a complete redo. The honey/oak cabinets were structurally sound. The tile backsplash was in need of an update, but we did not want to replace the Corian countertop and sink. The appliances were not new but still years away from replacement.
We happened to run into John at the home show in Oaks and saw samples of their cabinet painting process. We were impressed and gave John and Lisa a call. Lisa and John paid us a visit and Lisa spied a dark cherry hutch we had in our dining room. This cherry color became the choice for the lower cabinet frames, doors and drawers. To contrast and add some light to the room, Lisa recommended an off-white for the upper frames and doors. The lower cherry cabinets were to be finished with a black glaze and the uppers with a sandy brown glaze.
John prepared an estimate which he delivered via e-mail the next day. The estimate was a fraction of what a new kitchen would cost and the reuse of the existing countertop and appliances only made the decision to go ahead easier.
John delivered sample doors with the two colors within two weeks which we used to pick a cherry glass and stone tile from Lowes. The tile work was a DIY project and done the week before the painting started.
All work started on the day we agreed and all work was completed a day ahead of schedule – Thursday versus Friday. John kept us informed of all the scheduled work and the times his folks would be at our door.
We absolutely love the new look!

Project went very smoothly. Started and finished on time. No surprises except that the final product was much more beautiful than I ever expected. Entire project team was a pleasure to deal with.
Grande Finale refinished our oak kitchen cabinets to be more modern. They were very flexible in working around our busy schedule. Lisa was also very good about trying different things out, showing us samples, and helping us figure out exactly what we wanted. It was clear she was very committed to making sure the end result was going to be something we were happy with. When they were in our home, they were very mindful of keeping things very clean. The quality of the workmanship, and what we ended up with is excellent and I would have no reservation about hiring Grande Finale to do work in the future.
Lisa, John and son Ethan are like family. They are top professionals and are just great people. I would recommend them for any kitchen remodel. Before you even consider buying new cabinets, talk to Lisa and get some ideas. You will get a truly unique kitchen and you will save a ton of money. People cannot believe we painted our old builder grade oak cabinets. We are now planning to use Lisa & John again to help us paint some faux beams for a gas fireplace. We love working with them.
Lisa, John & Ethan Barrett were cheerful and professional in their interactions with me. The work they did for me turned out beautifully. They were very helpful in taking on several additional project elements once they were on site. I searched for several months for a contractor to sand, paint and glaze my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Lisa & John came with beautiful samples of their work. From start to finish they seemed to understand what I was asking for. They just finished the project and it is beautiful. While on site they agreed to do an additional fireplace and door. They proposed excellent improvements. I am really pleased with the changes to my condo. I would recommend Grande Finale and use them again.
I have only positive things to say about Grande Finale. Our contact began with a no pressure sales meeting with the husband and wife team that runs this family business. They explained their refinishing process and offered some very helpful design suggestions. A price quotation quickly followed and was delivered by email. Work began right on schedule and was completed on schedule. All work was done professionally and in a clean and careful manner. The workers were polite and a pleasure to have in my home. I am very satisfied with the finished job. I told the owners they were free to use my name as a reference if they wish.
My experience with them was very good. They were attentive to details. Their communication was very good. They followed up which everybody expects nowadays, but they don’t get. They did everything that they promised to do. They were on time. They cleaned up afterwards. They were very professional and I highly recommend them.

Grande Finale installed bead board, sanded, painted, glazed and installed all new hardware on our kitchen cabinets as well as the vanities in two of our bathrooms. They also sanded and painted the stair hand rail.
Prior to contacting Lisa & John from Grande Finale, we had installed a new granite countertop, stone tile backsplash and tile on our kitchen floor but did not change our old cabinets. All of the money we spent doing all the work could not be appreciated because of our old oak cabinets. Although our cabinets are old, they are in good condition and we could not justify spending money on new ones. The cabinets were just old looking due to the oak. We heard about Lisa & John from one of our neighbors. From the moment we met Lisa & John during the estimating stage, we knew that they were dependable, honest and experts in their field. They were prompt, which is very important to us, and they finished the job on time. At first we were skeptical about painting our cabinets, so we tried the vanities in two of our bathrooms and the hand rail on our stairs.
After that work was done, we were so pleased that we gave them the go ahead to do our kitchen. All throughout the transformation, Lisa & John exceeded our expectations on their dependability, honesty, and expertise. They cleaned each day after they were done as if no one was working in the kitchen. After the transformation, our kitchen now looks awesome!!!!! We are so grateful for Lisa & John.
I was considering kitchen cabinet refacing until I received 2 quotes from local companies. Yikes!! Way over my budget. I was at a Suburban Home Show and came upon John & Lisa’s booth. After a brief discussion on what I was looking for and viewing the painted cabinet doors they had on hand, I scheduled an appointment for them to visit my home. They did a walk through in my kitchen. Again we discussed what I was looking for. Lisa’s background in decorating was a tremendous asset in helping me select the right color for the cabinets/drawers and new hardware. John crunched the numbers while they were there and I was very pleased with the price. We scheduled work to begin 2 weeks later. I work every day so I gave them a spare key to my home. They cleaned up every evening before leaving. I thoroughly trusted these folks and was not disappointed. Work was completed ahead of schedule. I could not be happier with my new kitchen. I live in a condo building and already have 2 neighbors interested in talking to them too.
It went very well. Lisa & John came out to our home to see our cabinets. Lisa suggested that we paint our cabinets black, with a distressed look to match our hutch in our kitchen. She also suggested that we paint the island sage green. I would not have thought of that color for the island, but it really looks great. They took 2 drawer fronts home with them so they could show us samples before they painted everything. They brought them back a couple of days later. We agreed with the color choices, so they started on Monday morning. They took the doors and drawers off all the cabinets so they could paint them in their shop. They sanded and painted the trim on Monday & Tuesday. At the end of the day, all the dust from sanding was cleaned up. They came back on Friday morning and put everything back together. They also put back the hardware which they painted for us. We were very happy with the results. It’s like we have new cabinets!
Faux painted the wall in the 2 story foyer, upstairs hall and down the entire wall of the back stairway that leads into the family room. Also stenciled and chose colors to paint three shadow boxes on the wall in the 2 story foyer, pulling colors from furnishings in adjoining rooms.
The decorative wall finish in our home turned out to be above and beyond my expectations. Lisa Barrett and her team (husband, John and son, Ethan) were very professional. They took so much care to protect the ceiling, woodwork and floors before the job was even started, assuring the surrounding areas remained pristine.
My husband and I are very particular and not easily pleased when it comes to work done in our home. Lisa changed that for us because she is just as particular about what she does and makes sure the final outcome is just what you want. She is a master of her craft.
Over the years I have been somewhat apprehensive about having large groups over because the walls scuffed so easily and needed repainting. Previously, the old walls were painted with a flat paint that could not take any touch ups. My walls now have a durable, soft, old-world style texture and sheen. I am already planning a family gathering. If you are fortunate enough to have Lisa perform her magic for you, then thank your luck stars.
